Christian is supporting Rock Rail in its engagement with the German regional passenger railway market and the application of its competitive funding solutions to a range of upcoming train procurements.
Christian has over 25 years of experience in transport and infrastructure finance, having advised on and arranged finance for key projects in Asia, Europe, Africa and North- and South America.
He set up advisory firm Apex Rail, together with his business partner Markus Froehlich, in April 2017 and has since offered financial advisory and asset management services for a variety of rail sector clientele. Over the last three years the company has concluded a number of high-profile advisory mandates, including the sale of a large fleet of German passenger trains to a European Investor, a sale & lease back for a major locomotive portfolio of a Western European state railway and the financing of a new BEMU passenger trains for a German public transport authority. Previously, Christian also advised regional passenger train operators for the financing of new fleets in respect of S-Bahn Nuremberg and S-Bahn Hannover which involved institutional investors, commercial banks and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Prior to founding his own company, Christian was Senior Advisor at Heinrich & Mortinger, Berlin. He previously led the financing of commuter rolling stock and high-speed trains, and arranged corporate refinancings, as Director and Head of Rail / Land-based Transportation at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and London. Christian began his career in rail in the manufacturing industry, at Adtranz, then gained further experience in rolling stock leasing at HSH Nordbank and GATX Rail Europe.
