Rock Rail looks forward to supporting the Padstow to Rock swim again, as a main sponsor of this year’s event. Rock is also thrilled to be entering two teams, with six courageous colleagues and friends taking on the challenge. The mile-long open water swim starts in the Cornish town of Padstow and finishes on the other side of the Camel Estuary, in Rock, the small village after which Rock Rail is named.
Rock Rail was delighted to sponsor the event for the first time in 2019, when CEO Mark Swindell completed the challenge. The last swim raised an incredible sum of over £80,000 in support of end-of-life charity, Marie Curie, encouraging Rock Rail to carry on its support. Joining Mark this time around will be Rock Rail Partner Trevor Sturmy, Analysts Edward Stringer and Louis Swindell, and friends of the company Henry Swindell and Cecilia Swindell.
The sponsorship will provide swim caps for all participants and help fund the provision of professional lifeguards, from the Newquay Watersports Centre.
This wonderful event brings the communities of Rock and Padstow together and has done since its humble creation in the early 1970s. Marie Curie have been partners of the event since 2011 and the swim has raised over £550,000 for them so far. The charity provides care and support to people living with terminal illnesses, helping them achieve the best quality of life and maintain their independence and dignity for as long as possible, and supporting their families.
